For tonight, I do the silly by posting photos of Pico. It's known as 'Pico takes my father for a walk.' But first, there are some photos of him with a catnip pad.

I had just given it to him and he was getting the idea that this was fun.

After a while, he decided to lie by a chair. Don't you love the crossed hind paws?

Then he moved to the top of the tower my father had made for Pixel.

So, the next morning, I watched the daily routine of my father getting Pico into his harness...

... and then attaching the leash...

... and then it's outside to the great wide yonder with Pico in the lead.

This truly is cat leading human.

Usually my father sits down on this little portable chair and reads an article in the New Yorker or a section of the New York Times while Pico investigates every leaf in the shrubs. But with my trailing along, we circled around the house twice.

Pico lunged at a chipmunk that ran into the stonewall... That cage around him is actually a metal thing that was wrapped around a tree root bulb.

Here he is on the stonewall. He has a bit of pudge but most neutered male cats get that little flap. We have decided he is a cream tabby because of his rounded ears and his bulls eye marking. He is handsome... but a bit skittish right now.
You may ask why the leash? Because there are now so many preditors in my parents' yard — hawks, foxes, even wild turkeys that they do not want to risk his safety. I am fine with their decision — my four are all inside all the time. The closest they get out is lying in a window.
