Back to reality

[Northfield Range of the Vermont Greens from between Griffin Mountain and Mount Abraham]

We walked out of the Long Trail at the Lincoln Gap yesterday after a three-day/night walk from the Brandon Gap, through MUD and MUD and more MUD, through rain and fog, and finally yesterday some sun and views to find out that Edward Kennedy died.

Oh.

In 1968, Compa returned to civilisation, as it may be, after a week-trip of cross-country skiing in the Rockies to find out that Martin Luther King, Jr. had been assassinated. It was déjà vu all over for her. Ted Kennedy represents for her all her adult life of politics.

He represents for me all my life of politics.

His death truly marks the end of an era.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

And in 2005 we emerged from the NH Whites to find out about Katrina. So much can happen in such a short amount of time... and it usually has to do with the fragility of life.
