It seems fitting to start a blog on the automnal equinox, the day when, up here in the northeast, close to Canada, we have twelve hours of daylight and night. Soon, it will be more night than day. And soon, the brillant reds and oranges of the fall leaves will be on the ground, and we will be facing eight months with bare trees.

In the past two years, I have discovered the wonder of long-haul walking and hiking up mountains. The photo of boots, stacked up at the end of a 28 km day (in France this spring) are for me a lovely reminder of what it means to 'hit the road.'

So, I see this blog as a place to post photos of mountain hikes in my beautiful state and muse about various things, political, ecclesiastical and whatever else strikes me.

Lastly, there will definitely be 'Friday cat-blogging,' as three felines share my life.
