This little fellow is emblematic of what fall means for us in the northern parts of the world... little chipmunk is busy storing up nuts and seeds, running to and fro. Every year since we built the house 16 years ago, there has been a chipmunk that lives in the big stone retaining wall in front of the house. I don't mind having them; they aren't destructive like other critters (name, beavers, that seem to be gone). As the little guy runs around getting food stored up, it's time for the large two-legged critters, us, to get the wood pile in order lest it be a cold, cold winter.
