It has been a very, very long day so I don't have much energy in me to write too much.... clergy day, standing committee and then back in time to get things organised for Mardi Gras, a simple pancake supper. This is the second year we have done it in my 13 1/2 years here and while it doesn't attract the kids, the adults enjoy it.
Thanks to a sister priest in New Orleans, who also was a deputy at General Convention last June, we had plenty of Mardi Gras beads (she said her attic was full of them so she'd send me a box and so she did — the postal service opened the box because it rattled so) to put on the tables as decoration and then ensure that everybody had beads to wear.
Even as people were arriving, we were still decorating our one-room (basically) parish house.

Here's the kitchen CREWE as they made pancakes, sausage, and bacon. Total pig-out great dinner.
The serious part of the evening was watching the DVD that the Diocese of Louisiana put out (and distributed at General Convention) about reconstruction. Though we were 20 people, in a free-will donation, we collected $125 that will go to their efforts in rebuilding their lives. While our attention span as a nation has long moved on, the people in NOLA are still having to reclaim their space and their lives.
So, as the Anglican Communion turns, we keep on doing.
