The gods must be crazy

I can't believe it. Keith Ackerman is proposing that 2009 General Convention be cancelled and all the money used for it go to the MDGs.

Coming from some other source, I might buy it but from here? Nope. God only knows what the scheming break-away dioceses might try to foist on TEC if we don't meet at GC. Sorry. I am too cynical tonight to think otherwise.

It's just one more eruption to try to derail Lambeth.

Every day we'll get one or two emissions that will try to undercut what is happening at Lambeth. Frankly, if he were that concerned about money, perhaps the amount spent to travel to Lambeth could have been given to the MDGs. Follow the logic, follow the logic.

This all is insanity.

[Friday afternoon] As several people have pointed out, the Diocese of Quincy voted not to send a deputation to General Convention and has not paid their giving to the church so his words are all the more posturing.

What bomb shall we see today?

Absolutely correct. Ann Fontaine and the folks over at The Lead are beginning to track the pattern.

As the old saying goes: "A bombshell a day keeps reconcilation away." Or something like that.

And by the way, Ackerman didn't just spend money to go to Lambeth. He was a GAFConite too. The international travel bill this summer must be staggering for his little diocese. So maybe he just can't afford to go to GC09.

If these folks who don't seem to have the Gospels in their Bibles would just go off and form their own Church of the Holy Fundamental Aperture, we'd all be better off. That seems to be their primary focus and sole rallying point so why not?

And if there's no GC there's no way for those horrible liberal unchristian episcopalian apostates to take an action -- ideal from his perspective I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm cynical, too.
