Behind the scenes

Here's the mess we have to pick up before tonight, the sacristy:

The chalice, lavabo and ciborium are where we left them last night after the Good Friday liturgy. No paper towels, guess we need to get more. And, since there is no running water in the sacristy (because there is no running water in the church), we have to bring it in large jugs (like an old, carefully washed out vinegar bottle!).

This is the sole window in the small sacristy, out of which I spotted the robin the other night. We have to recycle Paschal candles (we usually get three years out of a candle). I had one heck of a time picking off the sticker '6' this morning. And the remaining numbers are so old that I am facing putting on an old-fashioned decal, '7'! The fancy kneeler goes on the prie-dieu in front of the side altar.

And there's the door to the outside, which I still can't use because of remaining snow/roof dumps. (It's a three-foot drop from the door to the stone step outside.) The large cabinet is where we keep linens, frontals and such. The painting of the church was done by a parishioner's mother who died ten years ago.

Quell pagaille... what a mess.
