The progressive rock band, Yes (remember them?), on their album, Close to the Edge, had a great song 'I get up, I get down.'
I feel that way as I look at my travel schedule for May and June. I am going to be spending a lot of time in airplanes going up and down, up and down. First, there's returning to Spain to finish the Camino de Santiago. Then as soon as I get back, it's off to NJ for Executive Council. And right after I get back from that, then it's off to El Salvador to lead a continuing education week. My senior warden remarked the other day that she didn't see how she would ever be able to live with my schedule. I am sort of wondering myself.
I love to travel, but I like to have my trips stretched out and not piled up on top of each other as they are landing this spring. It's a bit daunting to look at the schedule that lies ahead of me and realise how little I will be home (like, when am I going to get my vegetable garden in????) and how much time I will be in airports.
I have just finished booking the El Salvador trip. What's frustrating is that when we up in the US go to daylight savings time, that throws us (on eastern standard time) two hours ahead of El Salvador. The airlines don't adjust the departure time from El Salvador, which means that there is no way to get any further back upstream than New York City. No matter how you slice it, you end up having to spend the night, be it in Miami, Atlanta or NYC. This time, I luck out and will get to spend the night at some friends in Manhattan but other times?
In any event, shortly life takes off in more ways than one.
