Pocas palabras

I don't really have any words tonight. It was a full day of doing necessary paperwork beyond the usual cranking out a sermon (first time since the Easter Vigil!).

I am in an El Salvador frame of mind tonight for having gone to our bishop's presentation on his sabbatical. Part of it he spent in El Salvador, living down there for four weeks.

So I post a place that no longer exists except in photographs and in my heart because it has such meaning for me: Oscar Romero's tomb. His body is still in the crypt of the cathedral but not where it resided for many years. This tomb was deemed too simple, not elegant enough and in a dim corner.

Its appearance and site never seemed to bother the many, many people I would see at the tomb. Me neither.

Anyway, in thought and spirit, I place my hands on its cool surface and say a prayer to San Romero de las Américas.
