Finally my friend sacked out at 10.00 in the morning (under the blanket) and stayed there at least until 1.00 when I left the house. When I got back at 5.30, he was at the back door wanting dinner.
These photos are discrete; they do not show his incision; he strikes tasteful poses so that you needn't be grossed out.
The big problem right now is Young Guy who keeps attacking and hissing at him. Tonight YG will stay downstairs and La Doyenne and the patient upstairs. YG is totally freaked out by this new development in the household — the closed doors, the weird-looking cat, the smells and the change of routine.
Path report should be back by Friday.
My orange friend thanks all those who have prayed for him, feline and human. He knows there are people out there who understand what an orange fellow means to someone.

Yes, we do, and Miss Maya Pavlova, who is sacked out here on the desk keeping me company as I write, continues to send feline sympathy.
The last time our organist took one of his cats to the vet he was upset because the other two were very hostile for several days.
Wish I could catch my PuddyTat and get her treated. She is not doing well, losing weight, has bugs the flea stuff won't kill. Since the guys have been working on my house, they have made her extremely skittish. Even the old sweep her off the cathouse roof into the upright carrier trick won't work since I can't get my hands on her at all.
We went through this with our Ollie about a year ago. We let him recouperate mostly separate from the other kitties, as the smell from the vet's office set the other three off in paroxysms of hissing. After a few days, the last of the smell wore off and things were fine.
They took a wide margin with Ollie, too. It looked awful at the time, but has all grown over and, though we can tell, most folks have no idea he had such a large amount of his side removed unless we point it out.
Hope the news from the vet will be positive. These tumors are nothing to mess with. Ollie's doing fine. Kitties are pretty tough, and mine will send out some kitty prayers and good vibes for yours. :)
